“FBI Director Christoper Wray caught lying under oath to the American Public.”
BREAKING– The FBI’s attempts to spy on American Catholics have a deeper scope than the nation was told, as new evidence reveals that FBI director Christopher Wray lied under oath.
A recent letter to Wray by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) details that the federal law enforcement agency provided to legislators, including an FBI memo with elaborate plans to spy on “radical traditionalist Catholics,” didn’t solely involve the FBI Richmond field office, as Wray professed under oath.
Contrary to Wray’s claims, multiple FBI field offices were involved in the deeply corrupt and shockingly illegal infiltration of and spying on Catholic communities and parishes, namely, the FBI Portland and FBI Los Angeles offices.
Jordan, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee and the Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, and Johnson, who chairs the House Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government, in their letter, wrote to Wray:
“This new information suggests that the FBI’s use of its law enforcement capabilities to intrude on Americans’ First Amendment rights is more widespread than initially suspected and reveals inconsistencies with your previous testimony before the Committee. Given this startling new information, we write to request additional information to advance our oversight.”
Earlier this year, a memo was leaked to the public, unveiling the FBI’s plans to infiltrate and spy on “radical traditionalist Catholic” communities and parishes. The agency defines “radical traditionalist Catholics” as Catholics who attend the Tridentine rite of the Mass.
The Tridentine Mass, or Mass done entirely in Latin, is an old form of Mass the Catholic Church celebrated exclusively from 1570 until the 1960s.
Shockingly, the FBI memo claimed that so-called “radical traditionalist Catholics,” or celebrators of Latin Mass, are more likely to be “racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists.” The agency borrowed this classification from the far-left Southern Poverty Law Center, which groups Catholics, Evangelical Christians and parental rights groups on a “hate map,” right next to the KKK and Neo-Nazis.
Last month, while under oath, Wray knowingly lied to Congress that the memo was “a single product by a single field office,” referencing the FBI Richmond office. The new document revealed that the Richmond office was actually working alongside the Portland and Los Angeles field offices.
In fact, both FBI Portland and FBI Los Angeles have actually spied on Catholic parishes while supposedly “tracking activities of an alleged racially or ethnically motivated violent extremist,” new evidence revealed.
These alarming new documents only surfaced in Congress after Jordan threatened to hold Wray in contempt for failing to comply with subpoenas.
“It appears that both FBI Portland and FBI Los Angeles field offices were involved in or contributed to the creation of FBI’s assessment of traditional Catholics as potential domestic terrorists,” Jordan said in an interview with The Daily Signal.
“First, they went after moms and dads at school board meetings. Now, they’re going after traditional Catholics. When’s it going to stop?”
Long ago, the FBI spearheaded American safety and did paramount, heroic work on behalf of the public, rather than labeling ordinary citizens “domestic terrorists” and stomping all over their First Amendment and God-given rights.
This changed during the Obama administration, when the agency became politicized and contorted into a leftist watchdog, executing the progressive Democratic party’s political bidding. What a tragic downfall.
CatholicVote, a conservative Catholic advocacy group, condemned the FBI and Wray’s deceitfulness.
“This memo, exposing the lies of FBI Director Wray and his cohorts in the Biden administration, further tarnishes a once-respected organization. The FBI is supposed to target criminal activity, but Christopher Wray and Merrick Garland have given it the reputation of a Democratic [Party] goon squad,” said Tom Mclusky, CatholicVote’s Director of Governmental Affairs.
In April, the group filed a lawsuit against the FBI after the agency consistently ignored a Freedom of Information Act request pertaining to the Richmond field office memo. The FBI handled the lawsuit by simply ignoring it for months. In July, they finally responded, dismissing CatholicVote as “not entitled” to the information they’d legally requested.
“The FBI has finally acknowledged what we have long suspected, namely that FBI efforts to spy on Catholic churches went far beyond a single field office and a so-called rogue agent,” CatholicVote President Brian Burch said, addressing the breaking of new documents.
“Catholics deserve answers as to why the director of the FBI was not honest with the committee during his previous testimony.”
The House Judiciary Committee is now demanding that the FBI hands over communications between FBI Richmond, FBI Portland and FBI Los Angeles field offices. Wray has also been urged to “amend” his previous testimony to “fully explain the nature and scope of the FBI’s assessment of traditional Catholics as potential domestic terrorists.”
