Heart of Love: God Lives in the Greatest and Smallest of Things

Like every morning, I start my day by reading the Word of God.

One morning, I was in my rocking glider in the study and contemplating on scriptures I had just finished reading. I shut my eyes and meditated on those words and asked the Lord to reveal to me what He wanted me to see from those passages.

Across the room is a window that overlooks a large green lawn assisted in beauty with many trees that are shedding their bark. As I opened my eyes, my sight fixed on a tree that was lined up perfectly within a bird’s eye view of where I was sitting. The bark of the tree had peeled off to shape a heart in the middle of the trunk.

It was amazing! It was as if the Lord was reminding me of His love. The love of God was given freely to us through His son Jesus Christ. Jesus paid the ultimate price for us because His love is greater than the universe and any love we can feel from this world.

He laid His life down for us. Even though there are days and moments when we feel we are drowning in doubt and unexpected happenings, His love never fails or leaves us. In Hebrews chapter thirteen, verse five, the scripture reads, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” We have that rock-solid promise that we are loved, protected, and held within the bosom of the Almighty. I, for one, feel safer knowing I have a knight in shining armor, looking after my back.

The peace that resonates with that assurance and this steadfast, unshakable boldness I have given me the strength and power to withstand the storms that come to try and rock my world.

The Love Of God Is Present In The Littlest Things And In The Natural World

The love of Christ is all around us and visible in everything we see, touch, and feel.

I see it when I watch a squirrel scamper down a tree and run across the yard, up the banister and stop on the wooden rail of our front porch. I recently watched such a sight, while sitting at the dining room table enjoying a hot cup of coffee fixed just the way I like it. Aww, it’s the little things that please us. I sat there ever so still to not startle and cause the squirrel to hurry off.

You see, the Lord knows how much watching a squirrel interact with His creation brings me joy, so He shows me His love by letting me experience His heart.

The flowers, the mountain scenery and the peaceful feeling we experience when a cool breeze brushes our faces are all His expressions of His love. Society sees His heart every day but does not stop to recognize the preciousness because this world has evolved into a rush-about, chaotic and stressful society and we forget to stop and smell the roses. You see, when we include the Lord in our day, every day, and talk with Him, and spend time with Him, then He will give us the time we need to complete everything needed in our day.

Sounds simple, doesn’t it? Well, it is simple. Your day will go smoother, and you will find that there are enough hours in the day to get the job done. Stop, smell the roses, and experience His heart. In 1 Corinthians 13:8, the scripture tells us, “Love never fails.” His love never fails us. He is there in plain sight with open arms to wrap around us like our favorite blanket we snuggle with to feel warm and cozy.

When I feel Him close to me, I feel that warm and fuzzy feeling like goosepimples on my arms – and that feeling is blissfully peaceful and relaxing. Right now, take a moment, stop what you’re doing, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and let the Lord remind you how much He loves you. Experience His heart of love.
