President Joe Biden responded to Monday’s leaked Supreme Court document that indicates the court plans to overturn Roe v. Wade. Biden called the opinion “really quite a radical decision.” He then encouraged Congress to ban states from passing Pro-Life laws by codifying Roe.
“I think the codification of Roe makes a lot of sense,” Biden asserted, “Roe says what all mainstream, basic, religions have concluded. That the existence of a human life and being, is a question.”
The assertion that all mainstream religions agree with Roe v. Wade is absurdly false on its face. Further, the idea that all mainstream religions conclude that the existence of human Life in the womb is a “question” is just plainly wrong.
Texas Right to Life Director of Media and Communication Kimberlyn Schwartz responded:
“The president would do well to check the beliefs of his own religion. Major religions across the globe, along with everyday Americans, believe that preborn children deserve protection and should not be subjected to cruel deaths through abortion. Codification of Roe involves the complete and total enshrinement of abortion with no restrictions until the moment of birth. This idea is fundamentally immoral and widely unpopular with the American people.”
After the opinion leaked, Congressional Democrats immediately renewed pressure to codify Roe through the so-called “Women’s Health Protection Act,” which would ban states from passing Pro-Life laws and allow abortion at any stage in pregnancy up to the moment of birth.
