Texas Values Will March in D.C. and Texas This Week to Protect Life

Working to end abortion, Texas Values team members will join hundreds of thousands of Americans at the annual 2022 March for Life in Washington, D.C. on Friday, January 21st, and join thousands of Texans on Saturday, January 22 at the 2022 Texas Rally for Life in memory of the millions of aborted children and to call for an end to this unjust practice.  Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Bishop Joe Vasquez will be keynote speakers for the Texas event on Saturday; and Father Mike Schmidt, actor Kirk Cameron and music artist Matthew West will all headline the D.C. event on Friday. Pro-life supporters on social media will be using #WhyWeMarch.

Jonathan Saenz, President and Attorney for Texas Values, released this statement:

“In the Lonestar State one thing is clear, you don’t mess with Texas babies. We want to save lives, that’s why we march in D.C. and in Texas in honor of the 63 million babies who have been killed by abortion since 1973.  In Texas, over 20,000 babies have been saved from abortion since the passage of the Texas Heartbeat Law, the nation’s strongest pro-life legislation.  We will continue to fight for the protection of vulnerable babies in the womb and work to end Roe v. Wade and abortion in Texas and nationwide.”

Texas Values helped lead the passage of the Texas Heartbeat Law, S.B. 8, in 2021, a law many leaders believe has led to the possibility of Roe v. Wade being overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court.  This Law requires abortionists to check for a baby’s heartbeat and inform the mother if the presence of a heartbeat is detected, and if it is, to take all necessary steps to protect the life of the preborn child. A heartbeat is a universal indicator of life and a key medical indicator that a preborn baby will reach live birth. According to state statistics, nearly 85% of the 54,000 abortions in Texas happen before 8-weeks’ gestation. More information about the Texas Heartbeat law can be found at www.texasheartbeatlaw.com

In addition to S.B. 8, Texas Values worked alongside state legislators to ensure that the Alternatives to Abortion program dramatically increased their funds. The Alternatives to Abortion funding is now up to $100 million for 2022. These are huge victories for the preborn, the mothers, the many communities affected by unplanned pregnancies.
