Yesterday, there was wide and credible speculation that the U.S. Supreme Court would release a decision today on the Texas Heartbeat Law. However, a ruling did not occur, keeping in full effect the Texas Heartbeat Law. The Texas Heartbeat Law took effect on September 1, 2021. This means that there will continue to be more than 100 lives being saved every day. There are two cases before the U.S. Supreme Court on this issue: one brought by the Biden Department of Justice, and the other which has been brought by abortion groups.

Jonathan Saenz, President and Attorney for Texas Values released the following statement:

“We are thankful that the Texas Heartbeat law remains in effect, and lives are being saved every day in Texas because when a heartbeat is detected, that baby is protected. We estimate that over 12,000 babies have been saved since the law went into effect on September 1st, and we are keeping a daily count on texasheartbeatlaw.com.”

There are currently around 400 pregnancy resource centers in the state of Texas that are committed to helping women at each phase of pregnancy, including after birth. The Heartbeat Law requires abortionists to check for a baby’s heartbeat and inform the mother if the presence of a heartbeat is detected, which is currently 6 weeks gestation, although it can be detected as early as 5 weeks gestation.

Texas Values was the leading faith and family organization in Texas which helped in every phase of the passage of the Texas Heartbeat law.

On December 1st, Texas Values members will be on the ground for another pro-life law at the U.S. Supreme Court in D.C. for the Mississippi Dobbs case hearing and will be available for comment.
