Why can’t I get pregnant?
My husband and I are in our early 30s and are trying to conceive our first child. I am getting very discouraged. We live a pretty healthy lifestyle, and we don’t have any major health problems, but I have had painful, irregular periods for the last few years. We are considering in vitro fertilization, but it is so expensive.
I’m glad you asked about this because so many women struggle with infertility, and most often, the solution is very simple. The very first thing you should do is have a doctor evaluate your hormone status. When your hormones are out of balance, your body is not able to function optimally, which is why hormonal decline, in particular low progesterone and low thyroid function, is a common cause of infertility in women.
Progesterone Deficiency Causes Infertility and Miscarriage
Progesterone is necessary to balance estrogen. If estrogen is not balanced with progesterone, then women may develop infertility, endometriosis, skipped periods, heavy bleeding and fibroids, all of which hinder their chances of becoming pregnant.
Progesterone enables the body to maintain a pregnancy. It makes possible the survival of the fertilized egg by promoting implantation and is important for early embryonic development. It also maintains the lining of the womb which feeds the developing embryo. Progesterone is necessary for proper thyroid function, which also affects fertility.
Hypothyroidism Causes Infertility
Women with infertility are often not told by their doctor that their first step should be a thorough thyroid evaluation. Having optimal levels of thyroid hormone is essential for the ability to become pregnant and must be maintained in order to sustain a healthy pregnancy, even in the earliest days after conception.
Before you spend your money on costly fertility treatments, find out if your hormones are out of balance first. At Hotze Health & Wellness Center, we use bioidentical hormones that are identical to those made by your body to bring you back into balance. Take my to find out if you have symptoms of hormone decline. It is possible that balancing your hormones may be all you need to do in order to get a visit from the stork!
