Katy Christian Magazine and Fort Bend Christian Magazine are teaming up with Faith West Academy and AdWebvertising once again to host the Second Annual Katy Resurrection Run on April 20, 2019. The 2019 race will feature an official certified course for the first time. Once again, a large portion of the course will be on the scenic path around the lake by Faith West Academy’s campus.
“We are excited to bring back this event again for the community of Katy,” Joseph Menslage, Katy/Fort Bend Christian Magazines publisher and Katy Resurrection Run founder said. “We hope everyone who joined us in 2017 will come out to enjoy the fun again.” All the funds raised from the Resurrection Run will go towards Faith West’s Eagle Initiative, which supports various local organizations. The Eagle Initiative is Faith West’s outreach to the community where they give summer camp scholarships, and partner with numerous community organizations to make a difference. “We care a great deal about our community,” Gary Kerr, Faith West Founder and President said. “It is important for us to do what we can to support the Katy community.” Organizations the Eagle Initiative benefits include Child Protective Services adoption fair, Caring 4 Katy, Good Shepherd, Sunshine Kids, and Sunshine Thru the Rain. The Eagle Initiative’s impact is far reaching as some of the organizations benefit children and families from downtown Houston to the greater area.
In the past, Faith West has not held fundraisers for the Eagle Initiative. Business leaders, churches and Faith West families have supported it, but never through an organized campaign or event. Having the Katy/Fort Bend Christian Magazines host the Resurrection Run to support the Eagle Initiative allows Faith West to do even more for the community.
“It is a privilege to be able to support not only Faith West but the Katy community by hosting this family fun event,” Menslage said. “We hope the Katy community will join us for a fun time while doing good for their community and Faith West.”
Through the Eagle Initiative Faith West is able to open its many facilities like Camp West and Lake West to community organizations at no cost to host events and activities. This includes events like a Christmas experience for children within Child Protective Services (CPS) and a CPS adoption day where adoptions increased by 400%.
“Our commitment is to intentionally plant into the soil of this community,” Kerr said. “Whether by offering facilities to the amazing number of mobile churches in the Katy area, partnering with the Harris county foster child program, or supporting the Sunshine Kids… Faith West will continue to provide a needed environment for our great community.”
Sponsorship opportunities are still available for the Resurrection Run. While Katy/Fort Bend Christian Magazines organizes the event, it would not be possible without the help of the community’s generous sponsors. The 2019 Katy Resurrection is sure to be an awesome and fun family event once again. Make plans to celebrate the Easter weekend by bringing your family to participate in the Katy Resurrection Run. There will be something for everyone with the 5K run and 1K family walk.
“Bringing everyone together to celebrate the Easter weekend with the first Resurrection Run was really special,” Menslage said. “We hope it becomes a family tradition for Katy families.”
