Letter From The Publisher

Fall is upon us! As cooler weather ushers in a new season, we look forward to festivals geared toward families. Check out our calendar of local festivities and have fun!

Three-year-old Raelyn Cutbirth is on our cover this issue. Please join us in supporting her battle against cancer.  There has never been a little girl so full of sunshine and smiles, even while in the grip of a terrible disease. Read ahead for ways to help her toward a future free of cancer.

What a treat it is to feature Dave Coulier, who we all know and love from the sitcom Full House. His “Clean Guys of Comedy” recently aired at the Katy Cinemark in an initiative to bring a cleaner version comedy to America.

This past summer a group of Katy teen missionaries traveled to South Africa with Westland Baptist and Creekside Community Church to serve the AIDS orphans of Bulembu, Swaziland. We report on their adventures and what the trip meant to the community.

We are pleased to feature attorney and author Melanie Bragg, whose debut novel Crosstown Park will be available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. This crime drama has an underlying spiritual theme with a glowing review by Jack Canfield of the famed Chicken Soup for the Soul series.

We also feature the teen volunteer opportunities that await at Morning Glory Ranch, a facility that offers equestrian therapy to the special needs community. Volunteering builds character (and resumes). Katyites are also invited to the upcoming Morning Glory Ranch Annual Gala themed toward the Roaring ‘20’s.

Speaking of teens, we include an article about the new movie, “I’m in Love with a Church Girl,” which is a  redemption tale that just might appeal (and change the hearts of) teens.

Bill Kneer, our political columnist, weighs in on the abortion debate with a strong 8th Amendment argument  and extremely graphic description of what abortion entails — in “layman’s terms.” The abortion crisis is so important that we share his unvarnished article, and as Bill says, “Read with caution and a strong stomach.”

We also feature a “combined” business and pastor profile and local student highlights, plus much more!

Do you have a compelling story to share? If so, contact the editor at melanie@katychristianmagazine.com for consideration. Onward to the Thanksgiving holidays! We wish the best of the fall season to all our readers and Christian advertisers.

Joseph Menslage

As the President and Publisher of Katy and Fort Bend Christian Magazines, Joe Menslage is committed to covering social and political news from a Christian worldview. He founded Katy Christian Magazine in 2005, which swept the greater Houston and Katy areas like a storm. That’s when Joe realized the urgent need for publications willing to give voices to the voiceless, without political correctness or censorship. Joe Menslage founded sister-publication Fort Bend Christian Magazine in 2014. Prior to creating Katy Christian Magazine, Joe Menslage led a colorful life. He was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, spent a great deal of his childhood in Colorado, and lived in a couple of other states before he moved to Houston in 1981. Joe was God-gifted with an entrepreneurial mind, and self-started other business ventures before he found his calling. In Joe’s words, our innate talents are given by the Lord, and are meant to be used to serve the Lord. Aside from being a President and Publisher, Joe Menslage is also the co-founder of Katy Christian Chamber of Commerce, where Christians can network, build business connections, listen to passionate speakers, and enjoy monthly breakfasts and lunches.
