Why do we cower?  Why do we allow Islam to slowly push its way forward until we find ourselves backed into a corner?  Why don’t we speak up and remind the world that we are a country founded on Christian morals and principles?  Yes, it is true that America practices freedom of religion, but what does that mean anymore?  Does it mean that Christians must stand meekly by and watch educational institutions replace “Merry Christmas” with “Happy Holidays,” while Muslims freely exclaim “Happy Ramadan” at the top of their lungs?  Does it mean that Christian teachers are restricted from uttering the word “Christ” for fear of offending Muslims and losing their jobs?  What is going on?  Are we already in that corner?

For the tiny city of Friendswood, Texas this “corner” is becoming a reality.  Recently, without the permission of parents, the Friendswood Junior High principal called for a thirty-minute Islamic assembly, which was hosted by two female Muslims. Parents of Friendswood Junior High school students were outraged—not only because they were not informed—but also because there has never been a Christian assembly!  Yet, would a Christian assembly fix this situation?  No.  Because, the damage has already been done.  Ask any ex-Muslim how they were indoctrinated into Islam and they will tell you that they were painted an Islamic picture full of flowers and happy faces.  These ex-Muslims were never informed that the penalty for leaving Islam is death.  These ex-Muslims were never told that during the moments when they were being taught that Islam was a religion of peace—another Christian was being killed for his beliefs.  Were the impressionable “children” sitting cross-legged at the Islamic assembly informed about Muslim apostasy laws and Christian persecution?  Probably not.

So how did this happen?  Why do we cower?  Why are we allowing Islam to slowly encroach and strip us of all our Christian freedoms?  The answer is fear.  Fear of Muslims—fear of man.  We watch wide-eyed as stories of suicide bombers pepper our screens–leaving us cold and shaking.  Our hearts ache as we remember 9/11.  We try to understand the mindsets of men who kill in the name of Allah, but we cannot.  Thus, we fear what we do not understand.  We cower.  We give in.  Why?  Have we forgotten that God is in control?

Matthew 24:9-14, “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.  At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
