Meet Martin Etwop, Ugandan Immigrant, Freedom Fighter, and Grassroots Conservative for Texas’ 2nd District

As the 2026 Congressional elections loom closer, one candidate is standing out as a bold voice for conservative values in Texas’ 2nd Congressional District: Martin Etwop. Running against incumbent Dan Crenshaw in the Republican primaries, Etwop promises a return to principles that resonate with the true heart of the GOP—conservatism.

Etwop’s journey to this pivotal moment is a story he describes as the American Dream. Born in the war-torn landscape of Uganda, he witnessed firsthand the devastating impacts of Marxism and socialism. From a childhood marked by poverty, violence, and political upheaval, he rose against the odds to become a constitutional attorney and a tireless defender of religious freedoms, family values, and the conservative principles that made America great.

Now, Etwop is stepping forward to represent Texas’ 2nd District in Washington, promising to fight for a future that upholds these values while rejecting the dangerous path toward socialism that some say is encroaching upon the U.S. With his expansive background, Etwop sees his mission as not just political, but deeply personal. He believes his mission is to save future generations of Americans.

Challenging Incumbent Dan Crenshaw

In this election cycle, Etwop will face an incumbent with significant name recognition: Rep. Dan Crenshaw. While Crenshaw has positioned himself as a Republican Congress, Etwop is ready to call attention to the growing frustration among conservative constituents who feel Crenshaw has strayed too far from the values they hold dear.

For many, Crenshaw’s moderate approach to key issues, particularly his past support for red flag laws, has been a point of contention. Red flag laws, which allow law enforcement to seize firearms from individuals deemed to be a danger to themselves or others, have sparked alarm among Second Amendment advocates.

As one of the foremost defenders of individual liberties, Etwop believes these laws infringe upon the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens. He is vocal in his opposition, positioning himself as a staunch advocate for personal freedoms and a commitment to never compromising on core conservative principles.

Etwop represents the grassroots conservative base that has grown disillusioned with what they see as a Republican establishment too eager to compromise with Washington elites. Etwop’s candidacy, rooted in his experiences fighting for religious freedom, defending family values, and standing up for the rights of everyday Americans, sets him apart as a hopeful champion of conservative ideals.

Plans to Connect with an Overlooked Group of Conservative Voters

Etwop’s story brims with instances of overcoming adversity. As a black conservative, he has faced the challenges of identity politics head-on. Those who know his politics look at his skin and question how he could be conservative; those who don’t assume he’s a liberal upon first glance.

He firmly believes that the conservative movement has not done enough to reach out to immigrant communities, particularly Africans, who share many of the same values but have been overlooked by the GOP. His background gives him a unique perspective on the importance of broadening the reach within the party by being more welcoming. He is determined to bring a message of unity and shared values to common-sense voters who may feel alienated by traditional political structures.

American exceptionalism and the values that bind the nation together—liberty, justice, and the pursuit of happiness—is what drives his candidacy. Having immigrated to the U.S. in 2006 as a missionary from Uganda, Etwop has not only embraced America’s promise but worked tirelessly to ensure that the ideals that allowed him to flourish—hard work, faith, and personal responsibility—remain intact for future generations.

As a constitutional attorney, Etwop has fought in the courts to defend these rights, representing individuals in high-profile cases and standing up against government overreach.

His decision to renounce his Ugandan citizenship after becoming a U.S. citizen speaks volumes about his commitment to this country. “This is my home now,” Etwop says. “And I will defend it with everything I have.”

Policy Priorities: Conservative Leadership for the Future

If elected to Congress, Etwop has made it clear that he will fight for policies that reflect his conservative values and put Texas and America first. His priorities include a balanced budget, stringent immigration laws that prioritize American interests, and a commitment to defending religious freedom and the sanctity of life.

Etwop is also determined to break the status quo in Washington. He advocates for single-issue bills that are transparent and easy for voters to understand, empowering citizens to hold their representatives accountable. His opposition to the bloated, multi-thousand-page bills that currently dominate Congress highlights his commitment to practical, commonsense legislation.

Perhaps most importantly, Etwop promises to remain in close contact with his constituents, regularly consulting with the people he represents.

“Congress is supposed to represent the people,” he says. “It’s not about making decisions in a vacuum. It’s about listening to the voices of those you serve and ensuring that their concerns are heard in Washington.”

As Texas’ 2nd Congressional District prepares for the 2026 elections, the choice is clear for those who want to see a return to conservative principles in Washington. Etwop’s message resonates with voters tired of the political establishment and eager for a representative who is unafraid to take a stand for the values that matter most.

In a race against Dan Crenshaw, Etwop offers a compelling alternative—one rooted in faith, hard work, and an unwavering belief in the American Dream. With his dedication to securing a prosperous future for the next generation, Etwop is ready to fight for the future of Texas and the United States.

Together, we can bring real change to Washington. Let’s make sure that the next representative of Texas’ 2nd District is someone who truly understands what it means to defend liberty, uphold conservative values, and protect the American Dream for generations to come.
