Christians Need To Vote: An Interview with Political Consultant and Lobbyist Ralph Reed

Ralph Reed has been involved in mobilizing Christians to participate in politics for over 40 years, beginning with the legendary Christian Coalition and continuing with the Faith and Freedom Coalition, which he now heads.

“President Donald J. Trump was the most supportive of innocent life, strengthening the family, and defending Israel in history, and he accomplished many of our long-sought policy goals as president,” says Reed.

“We are currently mobilizing millions of Christians through churches, Christian schools, and other organizations to vote and become involved in the election process, from canvassing their neighbors to turning out the vote to volunteering as poll workers.”

Faith & Freedom Coalition volunteers have knocked on over 3 million doors already, aiming for 10 million doors in the swing states by Election Day. Reed calls it the most ambitious and far-reaching ground game to get out the vote by any organization outside the Republican Party in modern political history.

It was President Donald J. Trump, speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast, who expressed his relationship with Christians.

Opening with a word of scripture, he mispronounced the quote, and the room laughed at him.

Upset at the pseudo piety, President Trump summarized, “I am sorry I am not like you. I obviously cannot pronounce scripture properly; I am on my third wife and not such a good person like you,” he said, as he looked over the self-righteous crowd.

He then continued, “I love God, and I believe He loves me too. And by the way, you gave me a list of things you have been trying to get done for the past 50 years, and I got them done in three years, so shut up and get with the program.” Then he sat down.

Reed adds, “It was President Donald J. Trump who moved the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, got rid of the Johnson Amendment that prohibited churches from being involved politically, removed Roe v. Wade, and initiated multiple religious freedom initiatives that changed everything for believers.”

Reed’s organization, the Faith and Freedom Coalition, is in the midst of a massive mobilization and calls on Christians to realize what they are facing with the most radical and extremist candidates for president and vice president in history. This includes Kamala Harris’ pledge to repeal the filibuster in the U.S. Senate in order to pass federal abortion-on-demand legislation that would impose abortion at every stage of pregnancy on the entire nation and repeal the Hyde Amendment, forcing taxpayers to pay for elective abortions.

Harris has also pledged to eliminate the filibuster to impose term limits on Supreme Court justices, forcing the immediate retirement of Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and John Roberts. This would eliminate the conservative majority on the Supreme Court and allow Kamala Harris to replace them with pro-abortion, liberal nominees, creating a far-left majority on the high court that would then restrict the religious freedom of Christians and other people of faith.

Reed says that this stark choice contrasts with Donald J. Trump, who was, and if re-elected will again be, the most pro-life, pro-religious freedom, and pro-Israel president in U.S. history.

“We don’t have to guess at what these two candidates will do if they become president,” says Reed. “They both have records. Kamala Harris has a record as a mediocre vice president in a failed administration characterized by high inflation, stagnant wages, and 10-15 million illegal immigrants pouring across an open border, along with skyrocketing gas and energy prices and undermining Israel while bolstering Iran and its terrorist proxies. Donald J. Trump has a record of defending innocent human life, appointing conservative judges and three conservative Supreme Court justices, moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, and ending enforcement of the Johnson Amendment so that churches and the faith community regained their voice in the conversation of democracy. The choice for Christians and others of faith is clear.”
