Not long ago, the federal government committed its conspiracies to remove God from American culture by the cloak of night, wrapping away its motives from the general public. Now emboldened, the government overtly attacks Christianity in broad daylight under the effortless guise of “lawfare.”
In example, you may have stumbled across recent headlines about Grand Canyon University and Liberty University, America’s first- and second-largest Christian universities, respectively. Both colleges are caught in the midst of political madness as the Biden administration continues to threaten them with exorbitant and peculiarly identical fines.
The alleged crimes committed by the universities? In October, Grand Canyon University was hit with a “$37.7 million fine brought by the federal government over allegations that it lied to students about the cost of its programs,” the Associated Press reported.
Also in October, Liberty University was fined $37 million for “[failing] to warn its Virginia campus community about safety threats… and systematically underreported crime statistics.”
You’ll want to pay attention to this part: The man steering the drive to shut down the top two Christian universities in the U.S. is the Biden Administration-appointed Education Department secretary, Miguel Cardona.
Cardona pushes the secular, globalist and anti-individual liberties ideologies of the Biden Administration from the U.S. education frontier.
In Oct. 2021, the Secretary of Education attracted the attention of the public when it was discovered that he solicited a controversial letter from the National School Boards Association (NSBA) to the U.S. Department of Justice that compared protesting parents to domestic terrorists.
That year, parents of schoolchildren and educators were clashing over new COVID-19 school policies and the teaching of critical race theory amid the reopening of schools. In his letter, Cardona suggested that parents who protested were “domestic terrorists,” and he suggested using the Patriot Act and hate crime laws against them.
“Coupled with attacks against school board members and educators for approving policies for masks to protect the health and safety of students and school employees, many public-school officials are also facing physical threats because of propaganda purporting the false inclusion of critical race theory within classroom instruction and curricula,” the letter states.
“The classification of these heinous actions could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes… Additionally, NSBA requests that such review examine appropriate enforceable actions against these crimes and acts of violence under the Gun-Free School Zones Act [and] the PATRIOT Act in regards to domestic terrorism.”
The NSBA’s Oct. 2021 letter called for the government to use federal action to address parent protests against school boards. The Biden Administration’s Department of Justice (DOJ) referenced this letter to pen a Oct. 4 memo that called on the FBI and U.S. attorney’s offices to investigate these so-called “threats of violence” at school board meetings.
However, parent group Parents Defending Education requested email correspondence between the White House, the DOJ and the NSBA through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The emails retrieved were staggering.
Evidently, the NSBA was in close contact with the White House and the DOJ weeks before the organization sent its infamous letter— and the Education Department was heavily involved with the letter’s creation.
In an email sent on Oct. 5, NSBA Secretary and Treasurer Kristi Swett stated that NSBA interim CEO Chip Slaven “told the officers he was writing a letter to provide information to the White House from a request by Secretary Cardona.”
This revelation was incredulous. The federal government was behind the request that the NSBA pen a letter to the federal government to investigate the parents of schoolchildren as domestic terrorists, under the directive of the Biden Administration’s Secretary of Education, Miguel Cardona.
“Stunning,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) posted on X (formerly Twitter). “The original source of the letter lobbying the Biden admin to use the Patriot Act to target parents as domestic terrorists? THE BIDEN ADMIN ITSELF. Biden Education Secretary: in effect, ‘Please ask us to treat Moms & Dads as terrorists.’”
“The truth comes out,” Sen. Rick Scott (R-Florida) posted on X. “Woke @SecCardona asked @NSBAPublicEd to write the letter @TheJusticeDept used to mobilize the FBI to begin treating parents like domestic terrorists. Cardona should resign.”
The conspiracy and the language of the letter led numerous Republican elected officials to call for Cardona to resign.
Obviously, he didn’t— and now, the Biden Administration’s ideology officer has expanded his manipulation of legal tactics to attack Christian universities.
Grand Canyon University (GCU) appealed its fine in November of last year, and GCU President Brian Mueller described the allegation that the university is dishonest to students about program pricing as “ridiculous.”
“It’s interesting, isn’t it, that the two largest Christian universities in the country, this one and Liberty University, are both being fined almost the identical amount at almost the identical time?” Mueller speculated in a speech. “Now is there a cause and effect there? I don’t know. But it’s a fact.”
Last month, the House Appropriations Committee held a public hearing about the Biden Administration’s decision to “crack down on GCU and other universities like it.”
There, Cardona and State Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) spoke openly about their distaste for Grand Canyon University and other Christian universities.
“We are cracking down not only to shut them down, but to send a similar message not to prey on students,” Cardona said.
However, Mueller and supporters of GCU alike point out that the $37.7 million fine is unprecedented and likely motivated by ideological bias, including the American Principles Project conservative think tank.
“The federal government’s education agenda is punishing schools that do not conform to their progressive ideology. It’s time we take a stand against this egregious abuse of power,” American Principles Project Policy Director Jon Schweppe said.
Further, the Goldwater Institute is in the midst of a lawsuit against the Education Department for “refusing to turn over public documents” that “explain why” the department fined GCU.
The Goldwater Institute submitted a Freedom of Information Act request to the U.S. Department of Education to obtain communications among senior officials within the department and to retrieve information on the number of student complaints related to GCU’s graduate programs, The Goldwater Institute said.
“Surprisingly, no records of complaints were found, and instead, the department provided 800 heavily redacted pages of documents.”
“With its motto of ‘private, Christian, affordable’ and its track record of graduating students into high-demand and high-paying jobs, GCU is a success story by any metric. And it stands apart from universities across the country that are facing declining enrollment, that are indoctrinating students with radical politics, and that are under attack for failing to defend the First Amendment,” the Goldwater Institute said.
“So then why are the feds targeting GCU, a popular university that seems to be doing everything right? That’s exactly what we’re going to find out.”
Cardona and the Department of Education’s actions are one link in a growing pattern of the Biden Administration employing agencies to attack Christians and family-oriented, conservative Americans in a Stalinist manner, utilizing force to silence any opposition. Other agencies popularly used are the FBI and the DOJ.
Another recent example is the Biden administration’s attacks on Sheetz Inc., a chain of convenience stores owned by a family that has long supported Republicans and Republican causes in Pennsylvania and the Midwest, according to records obtained by Judicial Watch.
The administration is using its Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) to sue Sheetz Inc. for “racially discriminatory hiring practices” over the utilization of background checks to screen applicants, which according to the Biden Administration, systematically discriminate against people of color.
It is no coincidence that the Sheetz family has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Republican priority platforms and political candidates, including former presidential candidate Mitt Romney, Pennsylvania Senate candidate Dave McCormick and the National Republican Committee, Judicial Watch pointed out.
The EEOC argues that Sheetz Inc. has maintained a longstanding practice of screening all job applicants for records of previous criminal records and then denying them employment if they have a criminal background, which “disproportionately screened out black, native American or Alaska native and multiracial applicants.”
However, the agency cannot and has not alleged that Sheetz Inc. was motivated by race in its hiring practices. Regardless, the EEOC stresses that utilizing the widely used background screening process is racist and discriminatory.
“The taxpayer-funded federal agency is going after businesses that screen employees with background checks, spending public resources to sue them,” Judicial Watch said.
