A newly released Pew Research Poll conducted between April 8-14, 2024, shows that President Biden, who professes to be Catholic, is losing support among Catholics, especially Hispanic Catholics.
The poll shows President Biden narrowly leading former President Trump with Hispanic Catholics, if the election were held today, by 49-47%, just a 2% lead.
In 2020, a similar poll conducted by Pew Research found Hispanic Catholics preferred Biden to Trump by a whopping 67%-26%, or plus 41%. That’s an erosion of 39% in just four years.
Among all Catholics, former President Trump leads Biden by a 55-43 [+12] margin.
Similarly in the 2020 Presidential election, Biden narrowly defeated then President Trump by a four percent margin, 51-47. Overall, Trump has had a 16% turnaround with Catholic voters for the 2024 election if the election were held today.
However, Biden’s support remains strong with Atheists 87-11, Agnostics 82-17 and with those who are not affiliated with religion at all 69-28.
