Local Student Spotlight: Charlton Yang of Cornerstone Christian Academy in Sugar Land, TX

Sugar Land, TX— This April, we’d like to spotlight one special, sweet and brilliant third grader: Charlton Yang. 

Charlton is a remarkable student at Cornerstone Christian Academy (CCA) whose journey embodies the values of faith, compassion and excellence. With a heart rooted in Christian love, Charlton’s kindness and dedication shine brightly in all aspects of his life.

At CCA, Charlton has found not just a school, but a community that nurtures his spiritual growth alongside his academic pursuits. Through prayer, fellowship, and the guidance of caring teachers, Charlton has blossomed from a shy student into a confident young leader, guided by the principles of faith and integrity. 

His third grade Math, Science, and Bible teacher, Ms. Cynthia Brackin, boasted, “Charlton is a delight to have in our classroom at CCA. He demonstrates a high level of competence, especially in Math. He also recently competed at the PSIA Academic meet with our school, and he took first place in Math, first in Number Sense, and will advance to state in both. Charlton loves learning in school and always gives 100%. We all love him at CCA!”

Academically, Charlton’s passion for learning is evident in his pursuit of excellence. Whether tackling challenging math problems or expanding his knowledge of the world, Charlton’s thirst for knowledge reflects his desire to fulfill God’s purpose for his life. He likes math, especially challenging problems. He also likes geography. He can name all U.S. states in the order they became a U.S. state. He can also name all their capitals. In fact, he can name over 100 countries in the world with their capitals and continents!

Beyond academics, Charlton also enjoys playing basketball and is very good at shooting! Supported by his family and the CCA community, Charlton’s journey is a testament to the transformative power of Christian education. Through the love and guidance of dedicated educators, Charlton has not only grown academically but has also deepened his faith and developed the confidence to live out God’s calling on his life.

As Charlton continues to walk in faith and pursue excellence, we are confident that God has great plans in store for him. We are thankful to Charlton for inspiring CCA with a compassionate heart and commitment to excellence. May you continue to shine brightly as a beacon of Christ’s love and grace at CCA and beyond.
