“Alan was a fearless leader, and his passing leaves a hole in the Republican Party that no one could ever fill.”
Alan Vera, a strong advocate for fair, honest elections in Harris County and Texas, passed away on Thursday, May 4 in Austin, Texas, at the Texas State Capital. He planned to testify for election integrity and security in the House Elections Committee, as he did nearly every Thursday.
Alan Vera served as the Chairman of the Harris County Republican Party Ballot Security Committee from June 2014 to present. Alan Vera and his wife Colleen Vera were active in investigating and exposing voter fraud and corruption in Harris County, Texas.
Alan Vera also served as a United States Army Airborne Ranger from 1970-1974, where he received numerous unit citations and awards. In March 2022, Alan and Colleen Vera received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Harris County Republican Party for their work on election integrity and revealing the corruption of elected officials in Harris County, Texas.
Alan Vera will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He was an outstanding Christian and advocate for transparency in local politics.
Shortly after his death, Cindy Siegel, the Harris County GOP Chair, released the following statement:
“Today, we lost a titan,” said Siegel.
“Alan’s life was dedicated to selfless service, as seen from his time in the military, to working tirelessly towards getting Republicans elected and doing everything in his power to ensure elections across the nation are safe and secure through education and advocacy.
At the Texas Capitol, he was always the first in the building and the last to leave as he devoted countless hours to testifying before the House and Senate, meeting with legislators, and speaking with other activists to push for election integrity legislation.”
“Alan was a fearless leader, and his passing leaves a hole in our Party that no one will ever fill,” she concluded.
In a span of just five days, Harris County lost two conservative icons. Gerry Wayne Monroe, known as the Five Star General, also passed away over the previous weekend.
