Yeast-Free Eating for Optimal Health

Hello, I’m Dr. Steven Hotze. I want to address a very common problem that is often overlooked by conventional doctors: yeast overgrowth, or Candida. Have you ever wondered if you could benefit from a yeast-free eating program?

Eating yeast-free has so many health benefits such as weight loss, improved gastrointestinal health, more energy, improved mental clarity and memory, and improved skin health, and it can help reduce your risk of disease. You will also feel healthier with a sense of well-being.

First, let me ask you a few questions:

  • Have you ever been prescribed antibiotics?
  • Have you ever been on birth control pills or steroid medications?
  • Do you crave sugar and simple carbohydrates, such as breads, cakes, and cookies?
  • Do you have recurrent yeast infections?
  • Do you have skin problems such as rashes, eczema, itching or hives?

What is Yeast Overgrowth?

Candida Albicans is a fungus which lives and overgrows in our intestines causing an imbalance in the normal bacteria of the colon so that we get less normal healthy bacteria, and more yeast. It produces 180 chemical toxins capable of causing many health symptoms. As these yeast toxins are absorbed in the colon and enter the bloodstream, they can cause symptoms beyond these sites in other areas of your body, so the list of possible symptoms is endless. Further, an individual with increased levels of yeast in his system often becomes allergic to yeast, and therefore, allergic to food products which contain yeast, such as wine, beer, breads, etc.

Common Symptoms of Yeast Overgrowth

  • Bloating
  • Headaches
  • Belching
  • Fatigue
  • Excessive gas
  • Skin rashes
  • Cramps
  • Immune suppression
  • Pain
  • Chemical sensitivity
  • Indigestion
  • Vaginal yeast infections
  • Constipation
  • Depression
  • Heartburn
  • Anxiety
  • Diarrhea
  • Inability to concentrate
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle aches
  • Hives
  • Athlete’s foot
  • Thrush, a white coating on the tongue
  • Fungal infections under fingernails and toenails

If you have symptoms such as constipation, bloating, abdominal pain, heartburn, gas and indigestion, then yeast overgrowth could very well be the culprit. These types of gastrointestinal symptoms are very common, and you may have tried using over-the-counter medications for symptom relief, only to find that the symptoms keep coming back. These medications act like a “Band-Aid” and do not solve the underlying cause of your yeast-related symptoms. You have to get to the root cause.

Antibiotics Contribute to Yeast Overgrowth

Whenever you take antibiotics, those antibiotics are meant to kill abnormal bacteria in the infection. Unfortunately, the antibiotics kill not only bad bacteria, but they also kill normal (good) bacteria that keep you healthy in other areas of the body. This imbalance of bad over good bacteria can cause many health symptoms.

How to Get Rid of Yeast Overgrowth

In order to get rid of yeast, it is essential that you starve the yeast, kill the yeast, and replace the normal bacteria in the colon, which is Lactobacillus Acidophilus. At the Hotze Health & Wellness Center, we recommend a yeast-free, grain-free eating program that eliminates dietary sources of yeast and other fungi, vinegar and fermented products, and sugar and carbohydrate-rich foods that provide nourishment to yeast.

Yeast-Free Eating Program

For those of you that are new to a yeast-free eating program, it involves cutting the sugar and simple carbs out of your eating plan. That means no pizza, pasta, bread, cookies, donuts, milk, and alcohol, to name a few. The goal is to stop feeding the yeast, since yeast feeds on sugar, and to kill the yeast and replace it with good bacteria, or probiotics

It can be intimidating to start a yeast-free eating program because it may seem like it takes a lot of preparation, but once you do, you’ll be surprised at how easy it is to maintain, and happy you’ll be about all the delicious foods and meals you can eat. Plus, we have a support system set up just for you! It’s called Yeast-Free With Me.
