Why Fort Bend Christian Magazine Chose the Candidates we Endorsed

Thank you for trusting Fort Bend Christian Magazine’s list of endorsed candidates for the midterm elections November 8, 2022, the most trusted Voter’s Guide in Fort Bend County, Texas.

As Harris County goes, so goes Fort Bend County.

This year’s endorsements came down to three simple issues: Crime, Crime, Crime.

From 2019-2021, homicides in Harris County rose by 71% according to this report by Channel 11 News. Many of the alleged killers were out on multiple felony bonds.

In February 2022, Treveon Tatum murdered 19-year-old Ondreus Patterson. That murder should not have happened. Tatum was out on bail for another murder he only just committed.

I recently heard of a story of a young mother who went out for a jog at 5:00 a.m. While she was jogging, she was raped and murdered. This story went viral on Twitter. Sadly, many of the responses went along these lines, “Serves her right! Why was she jogging at 5:00 a.m. in the first place?”

Many of us that are older remember the days when parents never worried about their kids when they went out to play. No parents watching us.

During the summers of the 70’s I would do my chores in the morning, and afterwards, my two stepbrothers and I would hit the streets. Sometimes we wouldn’t come home until dark.

Our parents never had to worry. We were safe. These days, parents have to watch their kids play in their own yards because the streets are dangerous.

How did we get here? The answer is simple: Fort Bend County Democrats have politized crime. Their sympathies lie with the criminals, not the citizens of this county.

I know many people that are running for office this year who are keeping a low profile about their campaign. The reason being is that they are running again an incumbent Democrat judge who will always rule against them if they are to appear in their court.

We can do better than this. We have to do better than this.

I for one believes that your wife, daughter, or sister should be able to jog at 5:00 a.m. without her life being at risk. We can do better than this.

Please use our voter’s guide to ensure the safety of your loved ones. Political ideology should never trump the safety of your family.

One day it might be your loved one that is a victim of a needless crime.
