Katy Christian Ministries Santa’s Sleigh Program Continues to Brighten the Lives of Those in Need

With the holiday season just around the corner, please consider opening your hearts this season by adopting a child or senior adult in need. 888 children and seniors are registered and in need of “adopting.”

Katy Christian Ministries (KCM) requests your helping hand this Christmas season to ensure that families with financial insecurities or are neglected during the holiday season are not forgotten. KCM Social Services helps families find and maintain balance when they fall into financial crisis. Celebrating Christmas can be challenging for these families who are struggling just to keep a roof over their heads and the lights turned on. The Santa’s Sleigh program is available for KCM’s Social Services active clients who have met with case managers for a full assessment of their needs, developing a holiday wish list. Your participation in Santa’s Sleigh can help restore hope and joy in the hearts of these families.

“I have been a volunteer with KCM for 30 years and have been active in Santa’s Sleigh either as a donor or volunteer.  Santa’s Sleigh provides Christmas to children and seniors who would not have the opportunity to have a Christmas,” commented Teresa Wiens, longtime KCM Volunteer. “The Lord has given so much to the Katy community, so the community gives back to its children and seniors. Last year 681 children and 30 senior adults were adopted, the most in Santa’s Sleigh history and we are expecting those numbers again this year.”

“We encourage the community to consider sponsoring a child or an adult senior wish list this holiday this season,” Deysi Crespo, Executive Director commented. “We want to continue building on this momentum this year with more donations to continue meeting the growing needs of our community.”

There are numerous ways in which you can participate in Santa’s Sleigh. Visit  ktcm.org/santassleigh/and click the ‘Register to Adopt’ button. Individuals, businesses and organizations can fill out an application online. Complete the form and either print the form to send to the Social Services department located at 5504 First Street, or email the completed document to SantasSleigh@ktcm.org. Once the Adoption Registration is completed, sponsors will be contacted by volunteers that match the sponsor with a child or a senior adult wish list. Our sponsors will be provided information on the recipients age, gender, clothing size, and Christmas Wish List. If you are adopting several children, please ensure that there is equality among the items purchased. Sponsorships range from $75 to a maximum of $125 per adoptee.

Gifts can be delivered to Trinity Faith Church, 5900 10th street, Katy Texas 77493, between Friday, December 7, from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. to Saturday, December 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at. All items purchased are tax deductible, and tax receipts may be requested at donation drop off.

If you are an individual or organization that would like to donate to a child or senior adult wish list, however you are not able to physically shop for clients, we welcome you to donate store gift cards or funds to ktcm.org/santassleigh/ by clicking the ‘Donate Now’ tab.
