“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder. And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
During the Christmas season, we celebrate the birth of the promise. The Word says that Jesus was given the name above all names. There is no other name that has been given by which man can be saved. This is good news! In Isaiah 9:6, the Word says that His name is wonderful. The wonder of Jesus is that He would come to earth fully man and fully God in order to reverse the curse of sin over our lives. The good news to all mankind is that Jesus, while we were yet sinners, came and offered himself as a sacrifice to pay for the debt of our sin (which was death – for the wages of sin is death).
As we celebrate this Christmas season, every Christian family should take the time to share the Gospel in their home. This time of family and celebration should be centered around the Good News of Jesus. In fact, this is our first step in fulfilling the Great Commission. It starts in our home with our family! Many times we assume that everyone in our home has heard it before, but as you know, assumption is the lowest level of knowledge. This holiday season could be the year that your children, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, and cousins hear the Word and are regenerated! What an exciting thought to introduce the gift of eternal life to those who are closest to us. What if your Christmas celebration is the place of rebirth to someone you know?! Preach the Gospel!
His name is called Counselor and Prince Of Peace. This season we must be reminded that we serve a God who is always willing to listen. Many of us are not looking forward to the long lines, increased traffic, etc. Sometimes these times of celebration can cause a depression in some, especially, if they have experienced a loss or had a traumatic experience. But no matter the darkness, Jesus is light. He will be your counselor, and He will be your peace. If you are struggling this season for whatever reason, take the time to pray and ask God to send His Counselor and His Peace. His name is Jesus. Call out His name…It re-sides above any circumstance that you may be going through today.
