Patient from Kenya Receives Mended Heart

Houston, TX – (October 31, 2016) On Wednesday October 26th Muzni, a two and a half year old girl from Kenya Africa, underwent a lifesaving heart procedure at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital. This procedure corrected the congenital heart defect she was born with, Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA.)

Muzni was able to travel from her home in Garissa County Kenya to Houston TX via the HeartGift program. HeartGift provides lifesaving heart surgery to children from around the world where specialized medical treatment is either scarce or nonexistent.

Muzni will remain in Houston recovering before traveling home on November 7th. Her stay and medical care is possible because of volunteers and donors in our community. Muzni and her Father, Issack are being hosted by the Tepikian family of Houston.

“The generosity of the Houston community to provide the partnerships necessary to make this a reality for Muzni is truly a blessing.” – Rachael Wright, Executive Director.
