As our hot summer months come to a close, we experience many mixed feelings toward the upcoming “Back to School” season. I, for one, am nostalgic as I watch my children grow into amazing young adults with each passing year.
My two oldest are in college and my two youngest are in high school. It seems like it was only yesterday that I was holding my first son Gabriel’s tiny hand and walking him to his preschool class- he is now venturing out into the world as a junior in college. Even my youngest, Naomi, is starting high school this year.
As all parents know, children are the Lord’s greatest gift to us and it is our responsibility to value them and ensure that they grow up with a good head on their shoulders. Our kids grow up far too fast and in the twinkling of an eye, they’re gone. I once heard a saying- “live every day as though it’s your last, because one day it will be.” I say to you- cherish every second with your child as if it’s the last because one day that will be the case.
“Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.” – Psalm 127:3
