Wonderful Christian Camp for Special Needs hopeful to open in Montgomery County!

Camp Blessing Texas held its first week of camp in 2006 at a rented retreat center north of Tomball.  Camp has grown by over 30% each summer and doubled attendance in 2011.  This summer we expect well over 300 campers and close to 500 volunteers at the two camps we are leasing.  The capital campaign, “Build a Blessing”, is underway with a master plan and development ideas to develop a fully accessible camp for special campers and their families.  The camp will be available for other groups and retreats in the spring and fall seasons.

Campers have a diagnosis of a mental or physical disability including Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and many others.  The Camp Blessing motto is Love, Acceptance, Fun!  Volunteers and campers alike exclaim how they have never experienced a loving community of people from all walks of life like at CBTX.

“Get involved with us.” says Glen Elder the Executive Director of CBTX.  “We have seen tremendous blessings at camp only through the countless hours of volunteers who serve at camp.”  He can be contacted through the website www.campblessing.org.

“Campers run through an energetic and encouraging cheer line to kick off there term of camp” Each camper has their own one to one counselor whom they become buddies with.

We need more young men to be counselors in 2013!

Come spend a fun week of acting with us! We have elementary, jr high, and high school camps.

The secondary grades will go through the entire process of creating an original play. We will write the script and create the characters and dialogue. We will have daily “special subject work” that will include sets, scenery, props, costumes, make-up, lights, and music. Then we present our masterpiece to our friends and family on Friday at 1:00 pm. Tuition for this camp is $200.

As for the elementary group, we’ll choose the fairy tale we want to perform. Then we’ll decide upon the sets, scenery, props, costumes, make-up, lighting, and music and present our masterpiece to our friends and family on Friday. Tuition for this camp is $100.

Each week will be a different adventure since each week will have different actors. Camp is open to anyone who has completed the grade assigned to the camp session.
