KATY, Texas – Victor Perez, the current Katy ISD school board president and a steadfast advocate for common-sense leadership, has officially filed for re-election.
Perez, who joined the board in 2022 and became president in 2023, is running to continue his mission of upholding the values cherished by Katy ISD families and maintaining the district’s reputation as one of the most sought-after in Texas.
A longtime Katy resident and Cuban immigrant, Perez brings a deep commitment to community service and over two decades of experience as a chief financial officer for publicly traded oil service companies.
“Serving as a Katy ISD trustee and board president has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Perez said. “I’m proud of the strides we’ve made together to ensure Katy ISD reflects our values and achieves its strategic goals. I look forward to continuing to advocate for public education, including increasing funding for teacher and staff compensation, special education, and school safety.”
During his tenure, Perez has focused on supporting educators, enhancing student safety, improving academic outcomes, respecting parental rights, and maintaining fiscal responsibility.
Under his leadership, the board implemented staff pay raises during challenging budget conditions, launched a benchmark lump sum payment program for teachers, and enacted new cell phone restrictions to prioritize education.
Perez also championed policies to remove sexually explicit or educationally unsuitable materials from schools and to prohibit biological males from using girls’ bathrooms and locker rooms. Additionally, the board approved the creation of a groundbreaking Behavioral Learning Center for K-12 special education students and an 18+ transition program.
Perez and his wife, Karen, have three children who graduated from Katy ISD and are proud grandparents to eight grandchildren, four of whom currently attend Katy ISD schools.
