HOUSTON (February 11, 2008) – River Oaks Baptist School (R.O.B.S.) is proud to announce the winning of Houston Junior Prep conference championships in 8th grade boys basketball and 8th grade boys soccer.
During the final round of conference playoffs, The R.O.B.S. 8th grade boys basketball team defeated St. Michael Catholic School by a score of 48 – 42 to become conference champions. The R.O.B.S. Raiders finished the regular season undefeated in conference play with an 8-0 record/ and an overall season record of 18-7.
R.O.B.S. 8th grade basketball team members are Blake Fox, Henry Waite, Stewart Cartwright, John Heard, Moody Heard, Stephen Pitt, Bill Munson, Alexander Franshaw, DJ Jones, Sam Seligman, Clark Bullington, Sam Reid and James Elam.
During the final round of conference playoffs, the R.O.B.S. 8th grade boys soccer team defeated St. John’s in the 11th round of penalty kicks to become conference champions. The R.O.B.S. Raiders finished the soccer season with a record of 11-4.
R.O.B.S. 8th grade soccer team members are Billy Cohen, Luke Cone, Luke Duroc-Danner, Will Fraser, Chris Hornung, Max Huston, Sam Jamison, Sam Marziotti, John Montgomery, Jack Peligrin, Bennett Pepi, Matt Petrov, Wright Thayer, Bennett Notestine, Rick Gordon and Win Reynolds.
Founded in 1955 as a mission of River Oaks Baptist Church, River Oaks Baptist School is known and respected for its superior academic curriculum and comprehensive Christian character development program. R.O.B.S. has grown, during the last 52 years, to an enrollment exceeding 830 students spread throughout the Primary, Lower and Middle Schools.
