AUSTIN, TEXASーFormer Congressman Steve Stockman says he is running again for the U.S. House, declaring he will not be silenced after what he describes as years of politically motivated attacks.
“My mandate in Congress was simple: safeguard our fundamental Constitutional rights and our freedoms,” Stockman said in a statement to Katy and Fort Bend Christian Magazines announcing his candidacy.
He added that he worked to “protect life, ensure homeland security, and secure our freedom from burdensome taxation.”
Stockman, who previously represented Texas’ 9th Congressional District, said he was targeted during the Obama administration for standing “unwavering” with his constituents and opposing “the nefarious agendas of Obama and Clinton.”

He called the legal case against him “historic and unprecedented political persecution,” saying federal officials sought to “force [him] into submission and silence [his] voice.”
Stockman tied his experience to broader national political tensions, claiming that “the destructive tactics perfected against [him] were subsequently unleashed upon Donald Trump.”
Despite those challenges, he said he is returning to the political arena with renewed determination.
“If defending the Constitution and the personal liberty of every American citizen makes me a rebel, then I am a rebel with a cause,” he said.
Stockman concluded his announcement by declaring, “I am therefore unreservedly declaring my re-election to the United States Congress.”
