Federal American Grill Heads to River Oaks with a New Mid Lane Location

Big news for Houston food lovers: Federal American Grill is spreading its wings once again, and this time it’s landing in one of the city’s most iconic neighborhoods—River Oaks. Set to open before the end of the year at 2400 Mid Lane, the new spot promises everything regulars already love about Federal: scratch-made American classics, an impressive whiskey collection, and that signature “yes is the answer, what’s the question?” approach to hospitality.

If you’ve ever dined at one of Federal’s other Houston locations, you know it’s more than just a restaurant. It’s a place where brunch turns into lingering conversations, business lunches become more productive over a perfectly mixed cocktail, and birthdays stretch long into the evening with decadent desserts. With River Oaks on the map, Federal American Grill is now making it easier for locals to enjoy that blend of comfort, class, and community without leaving their neighborhood.

Founder and CEO Matt Brice couldn’t be happier about the expansion.

“River Oaks has always been on our list, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring Federal American Grill to this community,” Brice said. “Our goal has always been simple—to create a place where every guest feels like family.”

So, what can River Oaks diners expect from the new space? Think a sprawling dining room and bar equally suited for date nights or lively evenings with friends.

The menu will feature Federal favorites like the Thai Shrimp & Grits (a must-order for regulars), the Federal Burger, and a dessert lineup worth breaking your diet for. Whiskey lovers will find plenty to toast to as well, with one of the city’s largest selections and a cocktail program built for both purists and adventurous sippers.

For special occasions or corporate gatherings, the new location also includes private dining options, making it just as versatile for celebrations as it is for casual weekday dinners.

With each new opening, Federal American Grill has reinforced its reputation as Houston’s go-to for elevated American dining wrapped in warm, Southern-inspired hospitality. The River Oaks addition is a continuation of a brand built on community, delicious dining and human connection.

The restaurant is slated to open before the end of 2025, with soft opening events and a grand opening celebration to be announced soon.

So, get ready, River Oaks. Your new neighborhood favorite is on its way—and the welcome cocktail is already waiting.
